Vernissage
Vernissage

Not all paintings are varnished. If a painting is unvarnished, it should remain so. Varnish is very important. It finishes the restoration and allows the degree of shine in the paint layer to be adjusted. The last layer of varnish is applied not with a brush, but by pulverization. Today, we use age-resistant varnishes which have the optical qualities of old natural varnishes.
